Why don't you build yourself a team

Build yourself a team build with an 'ing', and say 'team building', 'team building' .....

Ok, up front apologies for something. Nope, it's not the shameless bastardising of Bill the Brickie's song (see below - incidentally, I loved Look and Read as a kid), rather, it is for my terrible lack of posting, which I shall now try to rectify.

The reason for this post is two-fold. Firstly, to get myself posting again, and secondly, to tell you about my two days on a teambuilding fettlefest. Being the grumpy old man that I am, I wasn't bothered about going and indeed, thought the only useful part would be located at the bar in the late evening. The bar was indeed amusing, especially as we annexed a cravat that I then wore for most of the night. The cravat was supplied by someone after we declared that we want to attend the Chap Olympics next year - one step at a time you see. Today we did the typical outdoor things, two of which were bobbins, two were ok. I won't bore you with details, but I was the gallah that volunteered to get into the water (belly height) to help get the raft we'd built in there, so we could rescue the teddy. All sounds a little bit surreal doesn't it?

Now updated for Tom:

Thankfully our team building days are held indoors. But the highlights of the last one included the exercise where we all had to close our eyes and visualise the type of people we wanted to be, and when another member of staff smuggled her dog into the hotel. Oh, and when the new clinical director said we were grooming our trainees and I got the giggles.

I used to watch the programme with the brickie at school and I'm sure in the second episode it was 'build a wall with ed, to say its happen-ed' (because it didnt scan properly). Or maybe we just sang it like that to be awkward, we were about 9 and had confidently grasped the concepts of adding 'ed' and 'ing' to words.

Spot the clinical version of team building.. I'm surprised nobody brought some pink fluff along just in case... They did indeed say 'ed' at times... Can you remember 'dog detective'? Which stories can you remember? I'm fairly sure that we watched the first and second ones, which were called 'Dark Towers' and 'Badger Girl' respectively. I'll get my coat..

I thought we had the one about spuggy who raced pigeons(hence the name spuggy I suppose). The dog detective sounds familiar too. Was there some story or song about a lighthouse as well?

Dark Towers was effin brilliant. But shouldn't you have been at college or something when that was on, old boy? Or were you heading back to school to groom the young uns? Geordie Racer is what Munch is on about.

Magic, magic E! The Shamen should have recorded that.

Sadly I have no idea of these reminiscences. However I do have Korsakoff's. Welcome back, Lordie!

Best of luck in the Chap Olympics. Hope you have a suitable lemon yellow V neck.

Less of the talk of grooming bola, that's well out of order.... Dark Towers was indeed great. I think it actually scared me a little at the time though...
